You may have heard about the Japanese practice of kintsugi, repairing broken objects with gold.  It is related to the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which calls us to see what is flawed as beautiful.

I think it is also true with people.  When we work on our flaws, our wounds, with love and compassion, we become stronger and more beautiful.
